Custom home builder website design

Elimenti designs custom websites for custom home builders in Hinsdale, Western Springs and the western suburbs of Chicago. The site does the job a model home used to: it shows the work, explains how you build and makes the first call easy.

What a home builder website needs to do

  • Homes, sorted the way buyers look. Finished homes, homes being built and renovations, kept apart. Each with the town, the style, the size and what made it hard. Kitchens and stairs, not just the front elevation.
  • The process, step by step. Lot walk, design, pricing, permits, build, walkthrough, warranty. A family committing to a custom home wants to know what happens in month four and what you'll need from them.
  • Where you build, by name. Hinsdale, Western Springs, Clarendon Hills, Burr Ridge. Buyers and their agents search by town, and a clear service area keeps calls inside your radius.
  • Available homes and lots, when you have them. A spec home or a lot you control gets its own listing with photos, size and status, and comes down when it sells.
  • A first-call form that qualifies. Lot status, town, timeline and a budget range, so first calls go to families who are ready.
  • Proof people can check. The architects you work with, how long you've built here and homes people can drive past.

What the Corbel & Lane concept shows

Corbel & Lane is a working three-page site. The homepage leads with a finished home, then the process and the towns. The Homes page separates finished, in-progress and renovation work, each tagged by town and status. The Process page covers all seven steps, how long each takes and what the builder needs from the family, then ends with a form about the lot and the budget.

Our closest work

We maintain the website for ABN Construction Group, a general contractor in Glen Ellyn that builds commercial, retail, hospitality and multifamily projects. That's commercial construction, not custom homes, but what ABN taught us applies here: for a builder, the project portfolio is the sales pitch, and new projects need to go up soon after they're finished. What it costs

Projects start at $3,000. Most land between $3,500 and $4,500. A builder with a large archive of homes, or separate pages for each available home or lot, can sit above that range. Every project is scoped individually, and the price is in your written proposal before any work starts.

After launch, Site Care adds finished homes and takes sold listings down, at $175 a month or $85 an hour. What a website costs in the western suburbs →

Questions home builders ask

How much does a website for a custom home builder cost?

A custom Elimenti website for a home builder starts at $3,000, and most projects land between $3,500 and $4,500. Price depends mostly on how many homes you feature and whether you need pages for available homes or lots. Copywriting and a basic SEO setup are included. You get the exact price in writing before work starts.

Can you photograph our homes?

Yes. Photography is an optional add-on at $85 an hour. Good photos of finished homes do more for a builder's site than anything else, so we'd suggest shooting two or three of your best before launch. If you already work with an architectural photographer, we design around their images.

Can you add new homes after the site launches?

Yes. Through Site Care, we add finished homes, update homes in progress and take sold listings down, usually within five business days. Send the photos and a few details, and we write the copy. Site Care is $175 a month on the plan we recommend, or $85 an hour for individual updates.

Should a home builder show prices on its website?

Usually not exact prices, but some guidance helps. A line saying where most of your custom homes start, or a typical range for the size of home you build, filters out calls that were never going to work. If every build is priced from scratch, say that, and say what you need from a buyer to give a number.

Do you build websites for design-build firms and architects?

Yes. The same structure works for design-build firms and residential architects: the homes, the process and the towns you work in. What changes is the emphasis. An architect's site leads with design thinking and drawings, and a builder's leads with finished homes and how the build is run. We write the site around which one you are.

Can you take over our existing WordPress site instead?

Yes. Site Care covers existing WordPress sites, and it's the work we do for ABN Construction Group in Glen Ellyn. We start with a full pass through your theme, page builder and plugins before changing anything, and we estimate every task. If the site breaks every time it's edited, we'll tell you whether a rebuild makes more sense.
