Custom homes · Western suburbs of Chicago

Custom homes, built a few at a time.

Corbel & Lane builds new custom homes and whole-house renovations in Clarendon Hills, Hinsdale, Western Springs and the towns around them. Three or four homes a year, each one run by a partner from the lot walk to the keys.

What we build

Three kinds of work

Most of our homes are new builds on teardown lots. We take on one or two major renovations a year when the house is worth saving.

  • New custom homes

Designed with your architect or ours, priced line by line and built start to finish by our own superintendent.

  • Whole-house renovations

For older homes with good bones: new systems, new layout and the original character kept where it counts.

  • Additions

Kitchens, primary suites and second stories that look like they were always part of the house.

How a build works

From the lot to the keys

Seven steps, in the same order every time. You'll know what's happening this month and what you need to decide next. The full process

  1. Lot walk

Before you buy, at no cost.

  2. Design

Three to five months with the architect.

  3. Pricing

A line-item budget, not an allowance guess.

  4. Permits

    We handle village review.

  5. Build

Weekly photos and a standing site meeting.

  6. Walkthrough

A punch list, finished before you move in.

  7. Warranty

One year, and a visit at month eleven.

Where we build

Close to home, on purpose

We only build within about twenty minutes of our office. It's how a partner can be on every site, every week, and how we know each village's review process before we file.

Looking at a lot or a teardown? We'll walk it with you before you buy and tell you what it will and won't allow. There's no charge for that.
